Parents & Guardians

Supporting their journey. Building confidence in the experience.

Becoming a National Youth Ambassador is an important commitment, not only for the young person selected, but also for the family supporting them.

NYAPTTO brings young people into environments where they learn, collaborate, travel, engage with institutions, serve communities and develop confidence. We want parents and guardians to understand these experiences and have access to the information needed to support their child's participation.

Understanding the Programme

NYAPTTO is a structured two-year youth development programme administered by TTYA, an independent incorporated non-profit organisation. Through six interconnected components, participants engage in personal development, diplomacy, civic leadership, community service, institutional learning and professional preparation. Participants attend scheduled engagements, complete assignments, collaborate and demonstrate satisfactory progress.

Residential Experience & Overnight Activities

The residential experience is an important part of induction and installation, providing an immersive environment for relationship-building, personal development and collaborative learning. Parents and guardians receive relevant information about location, duration, accommodation, schedules, requirements and logistics. Participants under 18 must have the necessary parental or guardian consent.

Consent for Participants Under 18

When an applicant under 18 is accepted, a parent or guardian must give written consent. The applicant can open a consent form that is already filled in with their details. Print it, read it, sign it together with your child, keep it safe and wait for further instructions from the Programme Team. Open the consent form (the applicant ID and application email are needed).

Participant Wellbeing & Safeguarding

The safety, dignity and wellbeing of participants are important considerations in programme planning. Designated personnel support programme delivery and participant engagement. Parents and guardians should communicate relevant health, accessibility or other participation needs so appropriate arrangements can be considered. Safeguarding expectations, conduct requirements and reporting procedures are communicated through programme guidance.

Attendance, Travel & Field Engagements

The Programme includes institutional visits, community engagements and practical learning outside traditional settings. Parents and guardians are informed about arrangements for activities requiring travel or external venues, including meeting points, schedules, transportation where provided, and applicable costs or requirements. Participants are expected to follow activity instructions and communicate attendance concerns in advance.

Balancing School, Family & Programme Responsibilities

NYAPTTO recognises that participants balance school, examinations, family and other commitments. Activities are generally arranged outside regular school hours, although residential activities, field engagements and special events may require additional planning. Families can support participants by helping them manage commitments, communicate difficulties early and develop independence.

Communication With Parents & Guardians

The Programme Team provides notices, schedules, activity instructions and updates through designated official channels. Parents and guardians of participants under 18 are encouraged to review information requiring consent and contact the Programme Team when clarification or support is needed.

Programme Fees & Financial Planning

Participant contributions help support programme delivery, learning resources, administration and developmental activities. Families should review the financial requirements published for each cohort, including programme fees, payment arrangements and additional activity-related contributions. Payment plans and conditional scholarship consideration are available through admissions, subject to eligibility, assessment and resources. For questions about fees, payment plans or receipts, email finance@nyaptto.com.

Encouraging Growth & Independence

As Youth Ambassadors progress, they are encouraged to become more self-reliant, accountable and confident. Parents and guardians play an important supporting role by encouraging consistent participation and recognising that challenges, collaboration and new responsibilities are valuable parts of learning.
